Formally Accepted

In the mail today I received my letter of formal acceptance into a five month student exchange program to Japan. The program is run by Student Exchange Australia (SEA), and I will be departing March and returning August. The main reason I want to go on exchange is to improve my Japanese, but also I wish to experience the Japanese culture not as a tourist travelling in Japan, but as a local living a typical Japanese life.

I have created this blog for two reasons:

1. To keep in contact with family and friends in Australia while on exchange. I hope to blog at least once a week, and let everybody back home know what I'm getting up to. I plan to upload photos from wherever I may be, and share details of my day to day life of schooling in Japan.

2. The blog will serve as a personal diary for me which I can use to reflect on during, and after my exchange.

I do not know where exactly I will be living in Japan, or who my host family will be. I could be placed anywhere in Japan, which is an exciting thought. These things, and others such as dates of travel, will be confirmed later when the information comes through from Japan.

I will blog any information I receive from SEA when I get it, which will hopefully be soon!

Alex
